Why ‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown’s Daughter Maddie Won’t ‘Call’ Him
Kody Brown approved at the latest Sister wives Consequence he had no idea why, daughter Maddie Brown doesn’t talk to him – but her mother, Janelle Brownhad an answer.
“I don’t know what happened. But during the breakup with Christine [Brown]“Maddie stopped reaching out to me,” Kody, 54, said on the Sunday, October 29, episode of the TLC series. “Maybe it was COVID, or I have no idea what was going on, but she stopped reaching out to me.”
Janelle, also 54, denied that her daughter Maddie’s actions had anything to do with Kody’s third wife, Christine, 51, leaving in November 2021. However, it had everything to do with Kody.
“Maddie doesn’t call him anymore because of his behavior lately,” Janelle claimed in a confessional recorded in spring 2022. “She says, ‘I don’t know what to do with him.’ I don’t know who this guy is.’”
Janelle – who also shares Maddie, 27 Logan29, Hunter26, garrison25, Gabriel22, and Savanah, 18, with the patriarch — explained that Maddie’s children also played a role in her sudden avoidance of Kody. (Maddie shares son Axel, 6, and daughters Evangalynn, 4, and Josephine, 8 months, with her husband Caleb brush.)

Maddie isn’t the only one of Kody’s children who began to distance themselves as the family began to fall apart. Kody subsequently revealed that he and Christine’s daughter Ysabel didn’t seem to be there anymore after their breakup either.

“Ysabel often seems uncomfortable,” Kody told the cameras, noting that his and Christine’s youngest daughter, Really“seems to be perfectly fine.” (Christine moved to Utah after her split from Kody in fall 2021 – and has since married David Woolley.)
“My relationship with my father was never 100% stable. Everything is difficult right now with the divorce,” Ysabel, 20, who lives in North Carolina with her half-sister Maddie, said in a confessional. “Nobody knows what to do in a divorce. And in a divorce with a polygamist family, no one knows what to do.”

“There is one thing that constantly worries me: the dark cloud that hangs over us most of the time. Because after the divorce and things like that, it seems a little… it’s a nuance, it’s a little undertone of some kind of tension,” Kody explained. “How do I trust? Can I trust? From my children.”

He later wondered whether his desire to have the entire multifamily live under one roof was what caused everything to fail. In addition to Christine’s departure, Janelle confirmed in December 2022 that she and Kody had split. Meri Brown then announced in January that she and Kody had ended their romantic relationship. He is still married to his fourth wife Robyn Brown.
“I wonder if some of the failures in plural marriage were my fault and if I expected too much from the family,” Kody told the cameras. “We might have been more successful with this one-family idea if we had lived in different households and the children had grown up as if they were cousins.”
