Wheeler dealers hold sale of classic sports car for £60,000 – days after offering £5,000 reward for stolen engine – The Irish Sun

WHEELER DEALER star Mike Brewer is selling a classic sports car… just days after his one-of-a-kind custom Ford Fiesta was stolen.

Mike is selling a classic, extremely rare 1968 Chevrolet for £60,000 after offering a £5,000 reward for his Ford Fiesta Mk1 that went missing in June.

The still-missing Fiesta was built specifically to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wheeler Dealers Show, as well as the end of the iconic Ford hatchback, which went out of production earlier this year.

A trailer used to store and transport the classic engine was stolen from the car park of the hotel where the TV star was staying the night before unveiling it on his show.

Mike’s Chevrolet Camaro will be auctioned at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham this Saturday and is expected to sell for around £60,000.

The TV star spent around 1,500 hours refinishing the custom-built Camaro during lockdown.

He made changes to the exhaust and disassembled the engine to increase power from 375 to 410 horsepower.

He also rebuilt the four-speed manual transmission and improved the braking system.

The suspension, springs, anti-roll bars and anti-tramp bars were either added or improved on the 1968 Chevrolet – the TV presenter estimates it cost him £40,000 to redesign the car.

Mike co-hosts the show with TV star Marc “Elvis” Priestly and both appeared in an appeal to the automotive industry to help them find their beloved car.

In an interview with The ExpressMike offered £5,000 cash to anyone who could tell him where the stolen engine was.

He added: “I’ll throw this in a bin, I’ll send it to a PO box, I don’t care how it happens. It’s going to be one of those Hollywood movie endings.”

“Whatever anyone asks of me, I don’t care. I’ll go into a crowded pub and give someone £5,000 if someone gives me the car.

Unfortunately, Mike’s Ford Fiesta MK1 has yet to be returned.

This comes after a motor expert said the electric boom had been a “disaster” for car brands.

Meanwhile, an RV driver warned other owners about his vehicle’s “plant-based” wiring.
