Vanessa Marcil pays tribute to Tyler Christopher following his death


Vanessa Marcil honors ex-fiancé – and former co-star – Tyler Christopher following his death.
Marcil, 55, took to social media on Thursday, November 2, to share a series of pictures of himself and Christopher over the years. The actress uploaded various magazine articles, red carpet photos and personal pictures via her Instagram Story, including a post captioned, “Tyler Christopher Baker: 1972 – 2023.”
She also reposted Amber Tamblyns Threads post in which she honored Christopher and praised him as an actor, writing, “This is devastating news. “Tyler Christopher was a generous scene partner who was always respectful and wonderful both on and off screen.” (Tamblyn, 40, played Emily Quartermaine on the ABC series from 1998 to 2000.)
Marcil and Christoper were together in the late 1990s after meeting on the set of General Hospital where they portrayed Brenda Barrett and Nikolas Cassadine, respectively. They were engaged briefly before calling it quits in 1999. While Marcil left the show in 1998, Christopher remained in the role until 2016, earning four Daytime Emmy nominations throughout his career.
After her romance with Christopher, Marcil married him Corey Feldman from 1989 to 1993 before moving on Beverly Hills, 90210 Costar Brian Austin Green. The couple dated for four years and gave birth to son Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green in 2002. After their separation in 2003, Marcil tied the knot Carmine Giovinazzo in 2010, but three years later they gave up.
Meanwhile, Christopher got married Eva Longoria in 2002. They were married for two years but separated in 2004. He later married Brienne Pedigo in 2008 and the duo have two children together: Greysun, 14, and Boheme, 8. They divorced in 2021.
Christopher died on Tuesday, October 31, at the age of 50 at his home in San Diego General Hospital Costar Maurice Benard announced the news, sharing that he had passed away after a “cardiac event.”
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher,” said Bernard, 60, wrote via an Instagram statement by the time. “[He] enjoyed bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and a wonderful friend to everyone who knew him.”
Bernard noted Christopher’s advocacy for “better mental health” and “substance use treatment” and shared that he “spoke openly about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.” He concluded: “We are deeply devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and father.”
General Hospital E.P Frank Valentini also expressed his condolences in a statement Entertainment tonight On Tuesday he said: “I am heartbroken by the news of the death of Tyler Christopher. He was kind, an incredible actor, and a dear friend who was loved by our GH family and Nikolas Cassadine fans. On behalf of everyone at General Hospital, our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
