PS5 Slim fans are shocked by the size of the console – it’s not what anyone expected

THE PS5 Slim is launching this month and some people have their hands on the first models.

The new PS5 model is not officially called PS5 Slim; Fans have named it that because of the new reduced size.

The PS5 Slim isn't as slim as we expected.

The most noticeable difference is the significantly reduced weight.

New owners will notice this as soon as they purchase the console, which is over a pound lighter than the standard model.

However, most people were hoping for a significant downsizing of the PS5.

The chunky console is even larger than the gigantic original Xbox model.

Compared to the original model, it’s a little shorter, but when you factor in the drive, it ends up being a little thicker.

Plus, the vertical stand isn’t included, so you won’t be able to take advantage of the lower height as much.

However, PS5 owners have found that the console works better when placed horizontally as it prevents the system from overheating.

From a technical perspective, the new model has a more compact fan, which helps the PS5 be less noisy when booting up.

Despite the size of the new fan, the same hardware is installed inside, so there should be no compromises when it comes to performance.

Another difference that people notice is that the shell is made up of four parts instead of two like the original model.

That means if you bought shells for the old PS5 model, you won’t be able to use them with the new model.

It’s worth noting that PlayStation chose not to call the new model PS5 Slim, so fans weren’t misled when it comes to the size of the console.

However, fans were still hoping for some improvements, especially since the new model is more expensive than the original.
