Israel has “encircled Gaza” and “eliminated Hamas in hand-to-hand combat” after attacking the “terror stronghold of Jablia.”

ISRAELI defense forces are said to have “encircled” Gaza City and are now apparently engaged in hand-to-hand combat against Hamas.

According to Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the “encirclement of the city of Gaza by the Israeli military has been completed.”

IDF troops would now “attack positions, command centers, firing points, shell infrastructure and eliminate terrorists in close combat,” he said.

However, the fighting came after at least 20 people were reportedly killed in Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp after a school-turned-shelter was damaged, UNRWA said.

The cause of the damage has not yet been independently clarified.

The UN said in a statement: “In the last 24 hours alone, four UNRWA shelters in the Gaza Strip have been damaged.”

“Today, a school-turned-shelter was damaged in the Jabalia refugee camp, the largest in the Gaza Strip, reportedly killing at least 20 people and injuring five.

“This comes after two days of heavy bombardment in the area.”
