Luckily, an engine expert has discovered the signs that could mean you need new windshield wipers.

A windshield wiper expert said: “The importance of having suitable and working windshield wipers is often overlooked, but keeping them in acceptable condition is vital to your safety.”

“After all, a dirty windshield is not only irritating and distracting when driving, but it can also be dangerous if the dirt limits visibility.”

Experts say drivers should be especially careful in the winter as heavy rain, ice and snow can cause serious damage to your windshield.

To this end, they recommend investing in blades that can withstand harsh and cold weather conditions.

Finally, motoring gurus recommend checking the screen regularly for signs of damage – including cracks or breaks in the rubber.

They said: “It’s also important to make sure you buy the right wiper blades for your car so that they fit and work efficiently.”
