Early widespread frost, sunny and cool this afternoon

TODAY: Sunny and cool. Hello 49.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold. See 34.
FRIDAY: Sunny and warmer. Hello 58.
A hard freeze this morning will effectively end the growing season in central PA. Most backyards will drop to 20° this morning under clear skies and calm winds. Although another sunny day is ahead, temperatures will remain in the high 40s this afternoon, continuing the cold from early November. However, it will be less windy today. Another hard freeze is expected this evening as lows fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s.
After another sunny day tomorrow, temperatures will slowly rise into the weekend, reaching highs of over 60° on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday evening too – it’s that time of year! While the weekend should be dry and pleasant with just a few more clouds, there’s no hope for much rain in the extended forecast either. Several weak waves will cross the Great Lakes next week (common in November) bringing clouds and showers to our north (Northern PA and New York State). While some clouds and a few showers could blanket our region next week, overall rain chances are low. We’ll keep you updated if that changes.
