The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was one of the biggest surprises of 2023. The spin-off series expanded the world of The walking dead and is gearing up for a captivating second season. And although the series was a great standalone addition The walking dead Universe, there are also some things that the series will hopefully address in the second season.
The end of the first season presents Daryl with an important decision: stay in France and save Laurent or return to America. Each of these decisions will have a significant impact on the spin-off’s story and the franchise as a whole. Many viewers may have a number of questions about the show and its future that need to be answered. So we’ve put together a list of things we think the show will address next season.

Will Daryl decide to leave France and return home?
The first question the second season must address is whether Daryl will stay in France. Even though leaving may seem so unthinkable, it’s important to see the bigger picture. While the Union of Hope’s plight may seem dire, Daryl also has his own issues to worry about, and returning home is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.
However, it’s hard to say that the decision to return to America wouldn’t be disappointing. Seeing Daryl in a new environment was undoubtedly one of the best things about the spin-off series. Combine this with the cast of wonderful characters that can be further fleshed out, and it becomes increasingly unlikely for Daryl to simply call it quits and return to Alexandria. At least not yet.
Will Pouvoir Du Vivant win over the Union of Hope?
The spin-off’s finale shows just how dire the situation is between Genet’s forces and the Union of Hope. That’s basically why Daryl’s stay in France is all but inevitable – it’s the only way forward when it comes to turning the tide of the battle. It’s hard to say who will win or how things will turn out, but it’s safe to assume that Daryl will be more involved in the fight against Genet in season two.
Will Daryl and Isabelle get together?
The prospect of a romantic relationship between Daryl and former nun Isabelle seemed far-fetched in the show’s first season. However, in the first season, there was a chance that everyone’s favorite zombie survivor could be in love. In the first season, viewers can see how the two’s relationship develops naturally. And although a romance is still a long way off, there is no doubt that the two have obviously developed a good relationship based on care and trust.
Who is Genet and what does she really want?
Genet was the big bad of the show’s first season. And while the show doesn’t lack in demonstrating the extent of her power, the audience doesn’t really know who Genet is and what drives her. The best villains in the series are all known for being fully fleshed out characters. A good understanding of a character’s upbringing and motivations allows the audience to become more invested in the story the series has created. Hopefully the second season explores Genet even more and gives viewers a glimpse into who she is beyond being the leader of Pouvoir Du Vivant.
What is the truth behind the zombie virus?
The truth behind the zombie virus was hinted at throughout the season and was a large part of previous storylines in the original series. And since Genet apparently knows more about the mystery of the zombie outbreak than she let on, we may get more answers in season two. Understanding the truth behind the zombies could help Daryl and the rest of the survivors get one step closer to finding a solution to the zombie plague.
Are the zombie variants in France linked to those in the United States?
Another reason we can safely assume that we’ll learn the truth behind the zombies sooner rather than later is Genet’s experiments – like her experimental serum, which was revealed to be the reason for the mysterious zombie variants in the spin-off . One question the second season will have to address is whether the serum also played a role in zombie variants in the US. Although there is no direct link between them, the variants may have emerged in a similar way in the United States. If this is the case, a person or organization in the United States must also be conducting experiments on the undead.
Will they find a cure?
Aside from new variants, the series also introduced the idea of a possible cure for the zombie threat that Rick once pursued in the original series. While Genet and Pouvoir Du Vivant’s developments by no means represent an acceptable solution to the zombies plaguing the world, it would not be an exaggeration to assume that these experiments could lead to a permanent answer to the zombie threat.
Is Laurent immune to the zombie virus?
At the end of the series, it is revealed that Laurent’s supposed supernatural abilities were all a farce. However, we also learn something incredibly important about Laurent’s birth. Although he is not the second coming of the divine, Isabelle reveals that Laurent’s mother was essentially a zombie when she gave birth to him. While this doesn’t confirm that the boy is immune to the virus, this could very well be something the series explores further in the second season.
Who or what was Carol talking about?
With Carol already confirmed to have a larger role in season two, we’re likely to get more answers surrounding one of the franchise’s most popular characters. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Carol revolves around someone or something that has “returned” to Alexandria. That could mean anything, as the show was incredibly vague about what it meant. Only time will tell what or who is back, but with Carol in the game it’s definitely going to be even more interesting.
Is Rick coming back?
Fans of the show have been speculating about Rick Grimes’ return for years. And considering the show has already brought Carol back, a Rick reunion could also be on the cards. Daryl initially went looking for Rick, so it’s entirely possible that the iconic character will finally return to the franchise in this spin-off. It may not happen until season two, but it would be the ultimate win considering it’s Daryl’s path to the series.
