In a lawsuit filed this Thursday and obtained by PEOPLE, it is detailed that Abe Diaw, the plaintiff, claims Brown attacked him with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. The incident allegedly took place in February at the popular TAPE nightclub in London.

Brown, 34, is accused of delivering “devastating blows” to Diaw’s head, causing him to become unconscious. But the attack didn’t end there; Diaw’s statement said Brown continued to violently stomp on him for 30 seconds. Diaw, who was 43 at the time of the incident, reportedly suffered lacerations to his head and torn ligaments in his leg, the severity of which resulted in “permanent” physical damage and also caused him “severe emotional distress.”

Interestingly, Diaw claims that the entire altercation was recorded on TAPE’s surveillance system. Diaw is demanding justice, is now suing the singer for damages and has expressed the desire for the case to be resolved by a jury. Brown’s representatives and legal team have not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for official comment on the matter.

Chris Brown is no stranger to legal problems. His tumultuous legal past dates back to 2009, when he faced intense backlash for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The event resulted in Rihanna being hospitalized with visible facial injuries. Brown was then charged with aggravated assault and making criminal threats. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to community service, five years probation and mandatory domestic violence counseling.

To celebrate his completion of the year-long domestic violence course in 2010, Brown wrote on Twitter: “I have enough self-respect and decency to be proud of completing this DV course.” Boyz run away [their] Mistake. Men learn from them!!!”

However, his problems didn’t stop there. As recently as May of this year, rumors began circulating about an altercation between Brown and another famous artist, Usher, just a day before her performance at the Lovers & Friends music festival in Las Vegas. The argument reportedly began at Usher’s birthday party and culminated in Usher appearing to have a bloody nose, according to TMZ.
