Her top tip was to lubricate locks and door handles to prevent freezing that prevents you from entering your engine.

WD40 is ideal as a lubricant for metalwork and costs just £6 at Tesco.

Michelle wrote: “Anytime you travel somewhere where it can snow, you run the risk of getting stranded.”

“You have to be prepared for winter.

“This means winterizing your car and knowing what to do if you encounter dangerous winter weather.”

In addition to lubricating locks, her top tips include ensuring a healthy battery before heading out into the cold, checking tire pressure regularly and making sure your car is serviced.

As temperatures continue to drop during the winter months, another motorist has a time-saving trick to help car owners.

But if you don’t have a plastic bag lying around, a large onion can help defrost the window.

However, motorists are being warned that some trending car hacks could cost them £5,000 in fines or even result in the loss of their driving licence.
